Does a black telescope get hotter in the sun?

A black tube absorbs more sunlight, so it can warm faster during daytime setup. For night observing, the difference is negligible, and the dark finish helps the tube disappear against the sky.

Is the 150mm reflector only available in black?

The 150EQ reflector in this slice is black and comes with a 5-color filter set and a 3X Barlow lens. That aperture suits deep sky and lunar viewing from a fixed location.

What is the latitude adjustment base for?

It is a 3/8 inch equatorial wedge with 0-90 degree adjustment, used to set the mount angle for your observing latitude. It comes in all black or black and red.

Can a black refractor be used for bird watching?

A 70mm/400mm or 90mm/900mm refractor can show birds, but the image is typically inverted unless a correct-image diagonal is added. A dedicated monocular is the more practical tool for wildlife.

What a black finish changes in use

A black tube and mount cut glare against a bright sky and blend into a dark observing site, which is why the 90mm/900mm and 90mm/700mm refractors and the 150mm reflector all appear in black. The color also hides scuffs and dew marks better than a light finish on a tripod or tube that gets packed and unpacked.
